Our activity
Landscape
Landscape has been a fundamental dimension of the agency's activity for several years, and is articulated around the know-how developed by Michel Reynaud.
In partnership with other agencies, or on its own behalf, LEU Réunion develops important and experimental landscaping and landscaping projects, and conducts a policy of landscaping within the framework of architectural projects.
LEUréunion's work as a specific landscape architect focuses on the unavoidable contemporary issues of biodiversity and the fertility of environments (intensity). At the origin of the reflections on hared gardens, LEUréunion has above all strongly contributed to the development of the production chains of of indigenous and endemic plants, pioneer in their use in large complex landscapes of ecological restoration such as the ZAC of Beauséjour, the wastewater treatment plant of Prado, the National Park of Reunion, ...
In addition to the development of local biodiversity, LEU réunion is strongly involved in the management of the planted areas, in particular with its training activities for both environmental managers and landscape workers. The success of living landscapes is that of their skilful and respectful management.
The landscape is also the indispensable tool for stormwater managementand beyond the very timid French texts, compliance with the provisions of European regulations, with depollution, the recharging of resources and delaying of major rainfall events. The gardens of the Beauséjour ZAC, in collaboration with the LD workshop, are an example of this. This approach has been persistent in the agency's work for more than ten years.
This process ofinnovation anddeepening knowledge of local biodiversity is carried out in particular through the development of partnerships. For example, through participation in the local scientific or associative network (CIRAD, CBNM, SREPEN, APN, etc.), or through the association of local experts.
Environmental town planning
In the same way as for architectural agencies, environmental urban planning has been developed within LEUréunion since its genesis. In partnership with TECKNE (Christian Charignon), we defined the AEU tropical reference system (ZAC de Beauséjour), then we designed the environmental urban planning tools, particularly for the eco-neighbourhood of the ZAC Cœur de ville (with a TRIBU partnership). In the same way that architects are involved in participatory and technical approaches related to the EQ of buildings (PERENE, RTDOM, Prebat, HQE, ENVIROBAT, etc.), LEUréunion is strongly involved in environmental, wind and tropical urban planning issues. The development of operational and evaluation tools is one of the agency's research areas.
This know-how received national recognition in 2018 for the Cœur de Ville de La Possession BIA: winner of the public's grand prize + special mention from the jury at the DD grand prize at the Green Solutions Award Construction 21.
We have worked hard to have the ANRU project in Saint Pierre classified as a national eco-neighbourhood in the "medium-sized city" category, and today we are monitoring the environmental quality at the operational level of the overall Cœur de Ville project at La Possession.
Beyond the tools of the environment, creative, poetic, involved urban planning is a daily practice of the agency, which is also very focused on issues of participation with citizens or users.
Environmental Quality of the building
Michel REYNAUD and Antoine PERRAU, obtained the recognition of the profession through the awarding of the first international prize in the Energy and Hot Climate category Green Solution Award Construction 21 for the Bois d'Olives school, on several occasions the Observ'er prize (Observatory of Renewable Energies), or the Reunion Island Architecture Prize which highlights quality architectural achievements in Reunion Island. The RAP aims to promote architecture and raise public awareness of the know-how of all those involved in the construction industry.
The QΕ pole of the building at LEU réunion is anessential efficiency pole for the construction of tropical urbanism. This centre, which brings together energy specialists and founding architects, develops field experiments and comfort and energy management systems, confort et de l’énergieHe is currently working on the AMO support for Rolland Garros Airport. He intervenes in AMO or MOE, and has very competent partners who can be mobilized in the case of particular problems, such as acousticians. It has developed with the town planners a collaborative work with theaeraulic expertiseThis is necessary within the framework of the urban project scales, also within the principle design of urban buildings. This work has been carried out in particular on the ZAC Cœur de ville at the scale of the ZAC and at the scale of the U-shaped urban building. This cluster is also very involved with the university, the IUT of Saint Pierre, the ADEME (French Environment and Energy Management Agency) in the framework of specific searches, scientific evaluations... and is therefore eligible for the research tax credit.
Of course, these poles are not watertight with each other, and interactions are the rule. The agency's versatile and polymorphic culture is its strength.
The actors of the agency are also strongly involved in the associative circles of Reunion Island: alternatiba, APN, SREPEN, but also national NEGAWAT, ENVIROBAT, ANPCEN...

The genesis of LEU Réunion was based on the desire of its founders to be creative actors in the development field in order to be able to offer architects, developers and project owners a regulatory and conceptual framework favourable to the production of the tropical city of tomorrow. Indeed it is essential that this context be adapted, otherwise, however effective the projects may be, they will not have the same impact between a favourable or unfavourable environment.
