The Jaco project (des JArdins pour le COnfort) aims to identify and quantify the role of plants, in interaction with buildings, on comfort in collective buildings.

For this purpose, we set up an experimental protocol based on the analysis of existing buildings through various aspects. The JACO project thus aims to quantify the thermal, aerodynamic and acoustic impacts of the plant (volume, architecture and shape, density and texture, distance from the building, nature of the soil, etc.), based on direct measurements of conventional physical and climatic parameters. We will thus work on two main types of vegetation: the first is that of a building (same orientation, compactness, height); with layouts without vegetation surrounding the buildings. A comparison between these two vegetated cases and their study references will thus be carried out to evaluate the differences in thermal, aerodynamic and acoustic ambience, applied to comfort and energy performance. All these case studies are located in the same commune, in Saint-Pierre (Reunion Island) to have the same meteorological data. As our design office works in this town, we will be able to intervene quickly.
